Facelift Candidates
Anyone who is concerned about the appearance of his or her face and neck (even that "turkey neck"), is suited for a lift procedure. You may have excess skin and fat around your chin that you want removed, or you might want to smooth wrinkles or minimize blemishes, scars, or moles. Whatever your concerns, Dr. Wire will address them in a personalized consultation.
Facelift Procedure
Dr. Wire performs facelifts in his Chaska office, in an operating room specifically designed for your comfort and safety. Our state-of-the art technology enables us to deliver your desired results without the use of general anesthesia, which allows you to recover without feeling nauseous or lethargic.
Upon your arrival, you will be administered oral medications that will help you relax and alleviate any anxiety you may have. Dr. Wire will visit with you personally before the procedure to answer any final questions. He will also take photographs in order to have before-and-after images to review during your recovery process. Our staff will then escort you to our surgical suite, where they will prepare you for the procedure. A comfortable bed, warm linens, and a spectacular view combined with relaxing music will enhance your experience.
Dr. Wire will then administer a local anesthetic throughout the skin surrounding your face and neck. After this takes effect, he will make fine incisions in precise locations, both in front of and behind your ear, and extending into your hairline.
Through these incisions, he is able to lift, pull, and drape your skin and tissues into a new, lifted position. Your results will look natural, without appearing as though your cheeks and chin have been "pulled" back in your face (you don't want that "wind-blown" look!). The technique tightens not only the skin, but also the deeper tissues of your face and neck.
During the procedure, which takes about an hour and a half to complete, it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep. At the conclusion of the surgery, you will be raised to a seated position, so that we can see your immediate results. We will then apply soft bandages to your face and transfer you to a recovery room. Because you will be groggy following your face lift, we insist you do not drive yourself home after the procedure.
Preparing for Face Lift Surgery
Dr. Wire requires that patients undergo a preoperative physical with their primary care physicians prior to a face lift. This is to ensure you are in optimal health and not at risk for complications such as prolonged bleeding or infection.
We can also arrange for patients to meet with our Wellness and Nutrition Director, Jordan Ciaccio, who can guide you in learning more about dietary and environmental factors that might influence your surgery, recovery, and final results. We recommend dietary supplements that provide nutritional support, and have been demonstrated to hasten recovery and minimize bruising.
On the day of your procedure, we recommend that you follow your usual routines for meals and bathing. However, we ask that you avoid using any lotions, creams, makeup, or perfume on your skin. Dr. Wire wants you to feel relaxed and calm, as well as comfortable with the change you are making to your appearance.
