Reveal Those Bright, Beautiful Eyes to the World
If the eyes are the window to the soul, wouldn't you want yours to appear receptive and interesting? That is what blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, could do for you. By removing heavy, excess skin surrounding your eyelids, blepharoplasty will open your eyes, making them appear rested and eliminating that "tired look." Dr. Wire performs eyelid surgery for Minneapolis area patients at his Chaska cosmetic surgery center. With his help, patients can achieve a rejuvenated, gorgeous, youthful appearance. To learn more about eyelid surgery, or to schedule your consultation, contact our Chaska clinic today.
Anyone who is concerned about the appearance of his or her eyes, or who has difficulty with peripheral vision, is a candidate for blepharoplasty. If you feel that wearing makeup fails to adequately mask bags or circles under your eyes, this procedure might help.
Men and women who experience vision problems associated with excess skin weighing around their eyelids may qualify for health insurance coverage.
Blepharoplasty will remedy peripheral vision obstructions that are caused by excess skin around or above the eyes. It does not correct vision problems such as near- or farsightedness. Patients who choose to undergo blepharoplasty with Dr. Wire will need to have a thorough eye exam by their optical physician prior to the procedure. This is necessary, both to ensure patients are optically healthy, and to determine whether or not current visual obstructions should be treated out of medical necessity.
Dr. Wire performs eyelid surgery in his operating suite, which is equipped with advanced technology and qualified, experienced staff members who will ensure your safety and relaxation. Prior to surgery, we request that you follow your typical daily routines in regards to meals and bathing. However, we ask that you avoid using any creams, gels, lotions, or cosmetics before coming in for your surgery. The procedure then goes as follows:
Upon your arrival, Dr. Wire will take some photographs of your eyes in order to have before-and-after images to go over during your recovery process. You will have the opportunity at this time to go over any additional questions you may have.
You will then be escorted to the operating suite, where our nursing staff will administer medications for pain relief and to help you relax. Scenic views and ambient music will help you feel at ease during the procedure.
Blepharoplasty takes less than one hour to complete. After the procedure, you will be escorted to our recovery area so that you may rest. We insist you arrange transportation home, as you may incur some lingering effects of the sedatives, as well as swelling after the surgery. The swelling is usually mild and will subside within days, but we advise patients to avoid driving until it abates.
The skin around your eyes may be tender after blepharoplasty, and it might appear irritated for one to two weeks following the procedure. During the week immediately following your eyelid surgery, we advise that you avoid wearing contact lenses or makeup around your eyes, as the area needs to heal without any interference.
After one week, you should return for a follow-up appointment with Dr. Wire. He will remove the sutures and check to make sure the area is healing properly. After this, you will be able to wear makeup again, and you can begin to resume your normal activities. It may take up to one month for swelling and discoloration to completely dissipate.
There are a number of reasons to choose eyelid surgery, from creating a more youthful and "awake" appearance to improving vision through the elimination of skin obstruction. Dr. Wire has a wealth of experience performing the surgery, providing patients with natural-looking results.
